Nepali Rupees (NPR/Rs) is the local currency.
(1 USD = ~ Rs.100 NPR).
We can exchange most of the foreign currencies through local banks and legitimate money exchanges in Kathmandu and all over Thamel. Small amounts of cash can also be exchanged at the hotel.
The ongoing rate of exchange is visibly displayed. The government of Nepal has banned the import, export and use of 500 and 1000 Indian Rupee note in Nepal. You should ensure that you are not carrying these notes on arrival in Nepal as they will be confiscated and you may also be fined.
Despite having security advantage of traveller’scheque, we prefer cash exchange to avoid hassles like a lengthy process and high rate of commission at the banks. You can withdraw cash (in Rupees only) from one of the many ATMs in Kathmandu and Thamel itself. There are quite several ATMs that are open around the clock. The maximum withdrawal amount is 35,000 Rupees for a 500 Rupees processing fee if you are using your foreign card. If you use the money exchange facility at banks and financial institutions the service fee charge imposed is about four percent or more depending upon the bank. Please note that most of the established banks in Asia will not accept foreign currency notes that are old, torn or faded. Please ensure that you have new, clean notes

And the most beautiful thing is that happyness was in all of the trip. Thanks to him I know many things of Nepal and Nepal s culture. He knows all that I want for information, and more. He makes all with heart and I left my heart here, all was amazing. In all of the trip, thanks to him, you are part of Nepal s people, and you are not a simple tourist with them. Ghorepani Poonhill Trek
I had the most amazing trekking through Ghorepani poon hill. My guide (Simbir) and porter (Manish) team were a young and yet experienced and energetic duo. They went all out to provide the most fun and safe trekking trip for me. I will really miss both of them! Back at Kathmandu, Paul was informative, meticulous, and service-oriented. He ensures everything in the trip runs smoothly, and really goes the extra mile in providing the best to you. One of my baggages got lost in transit upon arrival at Kathmandu, and Paul managed to get it back for me in a timely manner. Overall, I would strongly recommend doing your treks with Discovery World Trekking! Thanks to everyone for making my trip so fun and memorable! I'll be back for my 6th trekking trip in Nepal soon!
Ghorepani Poonhill Trek
This trip has been a lot of firsts for me--first solo trip in a unique country and first trekking trip. And one of the best decisions I've made is to hire the services of Discovery World Trekking. I had zero knowledge about trekking in the Nepalese mountains and Paul Gurung has been helpful from the start, making recommendations that fit me as a beginner. He was also very patient in answering all of my questions. The mountainside lodges he booked for me were very cozy and comfortable for a solo female traveler. The companions he assigned to me, Manish the trek guide and Amrit the porter, were very helpful. Manish made sure we trekked at a pace I was comfortable with. They were a pleasant company during the hike as well, always laughing and smiling. During meals and overnight stays at the lodges, Manish would always make sure to check that I had everything I needed--from food, to drinks to chargers-- before the day ended. Highly recommended if you want a hassle-free and memorable trekking experience in Nepal.
DWT bring us out to a new experience. ..
We didn't plan for trekking before. After we decided, we changed all our holiday plan. On the second day of trekking, we arrived in Ghorepani. In the morning, we climb up to Poon Hill for Sunrise. It was a great and new experience for us. Exciting, and we feel comfort and safe and secure with trekking guide staff. Thank you Discovery World Trekking...!!!
Trekking in Annapourna Conservation Area to Poon Hill
We did a short trekking trip to Poon Hill in the Annapourna Conservation Area through Discovery World Trekking. And everything was perfect. Personal assistance by the founder Paul in advance during and after the trek, pick up from the airport in Kathmandu, travel to Pokhara and the trek itself was excellently organised. We espacially liked our Nepali aides along the way, porter Manash and guide Milan took all measures necessary to ensure a safe and happy journey. From ordering food at the teahouses along the way to funny and insightful stories on Nepal and its people. We are thankful your the experience and wish the company all the best. We would and probably will book again.
experienced and competent guide and porter (ghorepani poon hill trek)
weather has been rough since day one of hike. it has been drizzling and raining thus we faced fierce river flow, slippery roads, leeches attack, landslide. thank to the expertise of guide Siddanta and porter Hari, our 5-day trek went smooth. and it was an adventurous and exciting one. appreciate how our guide actually carry fruits and energy bar into the mountain for us, very grateful. and i guess we brought sunshine to Poon Hill as it was Sunny and the Peaks showed up on the day we hiked, lucky. :)
Ghorepani Gandruk circuit Trekking
Just got back from Ghorepani Poon hill trek with Saroz (guide) and Gokul (porter). The trip was very well organized with careful attention to details and a lot of flexibility to adopt to our needs on the fly. Sunrise from poon hill is breathtaking, a well as the views throughout the trek. Every morning felt like another beautiful day in paradise and at the end we just didn't want it to be over. Paul was very attentive and communicative, had quick reply to every question, and took care of every aspect of the trip to create the perfect experience. Saroz was the perfect guide: energetic and considerate, adopting himself to our needs and pace, and making sure we have the time off our lives. Thank you Paul, Saroz and Gokul for a spectacular trek and amazing experience.

This is my first solo trekking in Nepal and Paul had been super helpful all along in answering all my questions as well as giving suggestions. The trekking experience itself was brilliant, I was lucky enough to get a very clear view on the day I arrived Poon Hill. My guide Manish was very caring and attentive. DWT has definitely made everything easier for me, I would look no further than DWT the second time I visit Nepal!
