Flood Relief to 100 Families in Nuwakot

We at Discovery World Trekking have distributed essential household supplies to around 100 families in Nuwakot affected by the Rasuwa flood of August 26, 2026.

Our team delivered the materials in Pandegaun, Bidur Municipality–1, and at the Gerkhutar holding centre in Ward No. 10.

The distribution followed a two-day field survey. Before arranging the supplies, we visited affected families to understand what they were facing and what they needed most urgently.

These contributions are small compared with what families have lost. We hope they can take a few concerns off their shoulders while they work out what comes next.

Household Essentials Provided to Each Family

Our Discovery World Trekking Team carefully packed the relief package for each affected family. The package was sent from Kathmandu via truck. Our team cordinated the distribution with our CEO leading at the front.

The bedding was included to support basic rest and comfort. Each family received one blanket, one mattress, one bedsheet and one pillow.

The pressure cooker and karai were intended to help with food preparation. Together with the plates, glasses and spoons, they provided equipment for cooking and serving everyday meals.

The basin and bucket were chosen for their everyday usefulness. They can help with washing utensils or clothes, carrying water, and other household chores.

Paul Shares His Hope for the Assistance

Our CEO and founder, Paul, spoke with news media about the distribution and his hope that the relief would help the affected families.

His message was straightforward: we wanted the supplies to be useful to people facing a difficult period.

The interviews gave us an opportunity to explain the effort- the families reached, the locations covered, and the materials provided. They also brought attention to needs that continue after the first reports of a disaster.

We visited, assessed household needs, and arranged supplies in response. Paul’s remarks to the media reflected the intention behind those actions: to offer some help at a time when people needed it.

Financial Assistance for Three Families from Ruby Valley

In addition to the distribution in Nuwakot, we provided financial assistance to three families from Ruby Valley affected by the Bhotekoshi flood.

Each family received Rs. 50,000, bringing the total cash assistance to Rs. 150,000.

The families supported were:

• Raju B.K.’s family, Ruby Valley–4: The father remains missing following the flood.
• Kumari B.K.’s family: The father also remains missing following the flood.
• Tir, Khadman Gurung’s family, Ruby Valley–6: The family lost their house and property in the flood.

Rs. 50,000 cannot make up for a missing loved one or the loss of a home. We hope it can ease some financial pressure and give each household a little room to address its most urgent concerns.

This financial support was separate from the household relief distribution. Both were part of our effort to offer practical assistance to families affected by the flood.

Supporting Families Through the Days Ahead

Once supplies have been handed over, families still have to manage the next morning, the next week, and the months beyond.

We know our contribution covers only a small part of what is needed. Bedding and utensils can support daily routines. Financial assistance can help with urgent costs. Neither removes the larger challenges.

Still, there is a reason to respond to the needs that can be met now.

A family shouldn’t have to wait for every question about its future to be answered before receiving something useful today. Replacing a few essentials can help people manage while other arrangements are being made.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make the relief possible. Their support contributed to the household supplies delivered in Pandegaun and Gerkhutar and the financial assistance provided to the three Ruby Valley families.

We also thank the families who took the time to speak with our team during the survey. Their accounts helped us understand what we could usefully provide.

To the families affected, we wish safety, strength and greater stability in the days ahead. We recognise that rebuilding takes time, and that some losses cannot be measured through a list of belongings or an amount of money.
