Most groups will give the trips in farewell dinner on the last evening or last day of the trek, to mark the end of the trip. The amount of the trip is an entirely personal preference that may be more or less depending upon your perception of service quality, length of trip, budget and appreciation of their work. I chose Discovery World Trekking based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and I'm glad I did. Paul the owner was very prompt with his reply and addressed any concerns I had with the trip. His quote easily beat his competition and included most meals during the trek. He also paid for our farewell dinner when we got back in Kathmandu! Our guide Soroj and our two porters Gore and Amar made sure we were ok and always looked after our safety. They catered to all our needs during our breaks and when we got to our guesthouses. Their enthusiasm and smiles everyday made us keep going in this challenging trek. I can't recommend DWT highly enough.

My friends and I just completed this trek and I must say it was the hardest yet the most rewarding challenge we have ever done. Our guide Soroj and our two porters Gore and Amar were so professional and took really good care of us and went above and beyond their normal duties to make sure we are well looked after...all with a smile! No request was ever too hard. I’m so proud that we have chosen this company as meeting other porters and guides along the trek, it was pretty clear that Discovery looks after the well-being of their employees. We’ve seen other porters on the trek carrying loads of up to 35kg but Discovery made sure that their own porters only carry up to 20Kgs. Paul their manager is very proud of his team and he treats them like family. He made sure his team are properly equipped and received the best training. If anyone is seriously thinking of doing this trek, I highly recommend this crew. Guaranteed they will look after you and be treated like family

What an experience! My friends and I have just returned from our 15-day Annapurna Circuit trek and our eyes are still sparkling with joy from this huge accomplishment, and glistening with tears from having to part ways with our DWT family. :( The trek was difficult, yes, but the stunning views are to die for. And what's not to like about feeling like a champ at the top of Thorong La pass? The real super stars of this epic trip, however, are Soroj, Amar, and Gore, our guide and two porters. They went above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort, catering to our every need with great attitudes and good humor because god knows it takes patience to deal with a whining bunch like us. They were there with us every step of the way, helping us to be comfortable with our own pace, dealing us the jokes we needed to keep going. I can't stress enough their impressive level of service and capacity to handle every situation with finesse. I definitely recommend DWT!!!

The staff at Discovery Worldmade everything about our trip so wonderful, from the airport pickup to the final meal in Pokhara. Paul clearly outlined everything for us and was extremely quick in responding to our requests and made us feel like we were in good hands. Our guide, Milan, and porter, Dev, were wonderful, energetic and funny travel companions. They did a wonderful job making sure that all I had to do was walk and admire the beauty of the Annapurna Circuit. Milan was quite personable and taught us his favorite card game and was knowledgeable about every peak and Valley we saw. Both Milan and Dev were constantly upbeat and happy, even taking almost as many pictures as we did. It was great to be with such enthusiastic people. I have already recommended Discovery world Trekking to my cousin and will never go trekking with anyone else. Everything was professional and exactly as advertised, with extra kindness and genuine care for our experience

Just returned from our Annapurna circuit trek and what an incredible experience it was! Our guide, Siddhanta, couldn't have been more professional. He organised everything for us on the trek, so all we had to do was walk and admire the beautiful views. Umesh, our porter, was enthusiastic and kept as laughing throughout. The whole thing was perfectly organised, from the pickup at the airport right through til the end of our trek. I will definitely be recommending this company to anyone who wants to trek in Nepal. Thanks Paul, Siddhanta and Umesh!

We have just finished the Annapurna circuit (+Thorang La pass) with our guide Siddhanta and porter Umesh from discovery world trekking.  The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. The manager Paul organised transport from the airport and was kind enough to store our spare rucksack safely whilst we were on the trek. We originally booked a group trek however this was not available and Paul organised us a private tour for the same price.  Our guide Siddhanta was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the mountains and local area. He was always there to help us with any problems we had big or small and was encouraging and patient any time we were struggling. There were several points on the trail where he was able to phone ahead and book us accommodation which was in short supply in the peak season and our daily itinerary was dynamic and changed according to our needs.  Our porter Umesh spoke very little English but had an infectious smile and was an absolute pleasure to have around.  Overall an excellent company. We paid a reasonable price and received great service couldn't be happier!

Awesome Adventure on the Annapurna Circuit!

Awesome Adventure on the Annapurna Circuit!

DWT was a great company to use for our hike. We had great service starting with correspondence with Paul back home and continued til the end of our trek. Our guide Simbre, along with our porters, Manish, Dil and Ram did everything they could to make our hike memorable. Their level of service was second to none. I will never forget their selflessness and mission to give us the greatest and safest adventure possible. Simbre was very knowledgable of our route and was awesome in allowing us to go at our own pace yet still stay with the group. He is a competent guide. My one issue was that it appeared sometimes we didn’t have a specific place to stay at the end of the day. I’m a planner and this is important to me as I assumed that our accommodation would be pre-booked especially since we were using a local guide company. This possibly may be the “Nepali way” but I did find that stressful. Needless to say we always had a place to sleep at night and the food was healthy and plentiful at all teahouses. I was lucky enough to hike with a good friend from USA, my adult son and daughter, along with with a fab guy from the UK. Unfortunately my daughter was unable to complete the trek due to altitude sickness. Initially I considered returning with her but Paul encouraged me to continue considering I was so close to completing the pass. He reassured me that he would make sure that she was well taken care of once back in Kathmandu. Paul was amazing in helping her with arrangements to meet up with us at Pokhara. I have hiked many world hikes and Annapurna Circuit is unique: the culture, the amazing people, the food, the terrain, and the high altitude. Overall, the trip was one-of-a-kind and I will never forget it! Thanks DWT! Miss you all!

We did a 14-day Annapurna-circuit trekking with guide and porters, organised by DWT and it was amazing!  We had our first contact with Paul, the owner. We were a bit worried about the level of the trekking (we never did a trekking before!), but Paul gave us all the info we needed and he he reasdured us. He came to pick us up at the airport, we had a good chat and he explained us day by day. We liked his way of working.  Our guide was Karan, he did his job perfect, gave us all the info we needed, helped us if we needed a bit motivation, or stayed with us when one of us was a bit slower. Top guide and guy!  Our porters were Noveen and Bomb, without them we would never been able to do this trekking. Doing a trekking is one thing, carrying your stuff is something else! They did a wonderful job!  Not only carrying our stuff, but they also were a great part of our group!  Noveen is going to be the next 'idols' in Nepal, that's for sure :)!  So a special thanks to those guys!  The trekking itself was amazing!  The guesthouses where we slept were good, comfy beds, good food! As told; this was our first trekking, and we only regret that we've never did this before! If you can walk several houres a day, you can do this trekking.(with a porter!)  Thanks to Paul, Karan, Noveen and Bomb for this wonderful experience!!! Topteam!!

Annapurna Circuit

Just finished up the Annapurna Circuit and I have nothing but praise for Paul and his incredible team who lead the way! This is my second visit and trek in Nepal, and I have been made to feel welcomed and most importantly safe as a solo female traveller. Paul was always prompt in answering my questions and his amazing team were there to pick me up from the airport when I arrived! Karan was our fearless team leader, with Noveen and Bomb his incredible wing-men! Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to make it over the Thorong-La Pass! These 3 kept our small group entertained, safe and well informed throughout the whole trek. We had planned to go to Tilicho Lake, however due to incredibly dangerous weather, our leaders made the difficult decision to turn us around and out of harms way after. Whilst not ideal, after hearing other trekkers stories of their visit to the lake, I’m glad we had such knowledgeable guides who had our safety as their number one priority. One of our three leaders was always by my side as I was the slowest of the group, and I was never once made to feel like I needed to rush. The guys always encouraged us to do our best and were always positive that we would get to the finish line.  I cannot praise Paul and his team enough! It has been yet another incredible visit to Nepal, and it’s been so great knowing I didn’t have to worry about anything, and that I could call on our team no matter what time of the day.  Make sure you indulge in the Dal Bhat (24hr power) when you travel with DWT! You’ll need the energy to keep up with the guys who never failed to keep us entertained with songs and jokes!  Bomb is the most hilarious pocket rocket, who is always up for the craziest of challenges. Noveen will sing away all of your worries (and will totally win Nepal Idol one day!!!) and Karan will always be by your side, sharing his amazing knowledge about the mountains and making the difficult decisions so you don’t have to, always with a smile on his face. Thanks for a fabulous 2 weeks! I’m already looking forward to my next Nepali adventure!

Our trek exceeded all expectations! The scenery, the accomodation, the food and most importantly the team of DWT were so amazing. They made everything so much easier and did everything they could to help us. We’re so glad that we didn’t decide to do the trek by ourselves because it was our first and it took all the stress away so we could focus on just walking. Our guide Karan made sure we were safe and comfortable at all times and he had to sometimes make hard decisions but did in the best way possible. Bom and Novim were our porters and personal entertainers. Couldn’t imagine doing the trek without them. They tought us some Nepali songs and dances while they were carrying our bags . Very impressive. We’ll definitely come back to Nepal and book our next trek with DWT hopefully with the same team. Thanks for everything guys!

My partner and I just completed Annapurna Circuit over the course of 15 days, facilitated by Discovery World Trekking. We could not be more pleased with our experience. From the outset, Paul was accomodating to our wishes and prompt with all replies (we organised the trek from Australia 6 months in advance). He was reasonable, open and sincere with all prices, inclusions and exclusions.  The trek itself was phenomenal. We were guided by Saroz and our porter was Amar. Saroz was knowledgeable, informative and very experienced on the terrain. He was attentive to our needs, always recognising when we required rest or some extra assistance. Saroz always encouraged us to go at our own pace which was very helpful and evidence of good guiding skills. He was well equipped with poles, crampons and medications that all proved useful to me during the trek.  All accomodation was clean and comfortable. We were given a certificate for our achievement, a prayer flag and necklace, all as kind gestures that really strengthened our love for DWT and this country.  Overall, we are thrilled with our experience and would DEFINITELY highly  recommend DWT to anyone. We hope to come back to Nepal in 2 years for another trek & will definitely be asking for Saroz and Amar again.  Cheers

Great private trek on Annapurna Circuit

Great private trek on Annapurna Circuit

We had a private 12 day trek with Discvery World Trekking, with Paul organising our trek around our specific requirements. Simbir, our guide was very well versed in the knowledge of the areas we visited and was very helpful in all aspects of our trip. Simbir's brother, Umesh was our porter and he was a lot of fun. Both our porter and guide provided lots of fun and laughter on our trip, showing us different places and reworking our trek itinerary so that we could trek back a different way and see different views. We felt like part of a family travelling with Simbir and Umesh, learning about them and their culture and music. We saw some wonderful sights and met a lot of lovely local people. The whole Discovery World Trekking team went out of their way to make sure our trip was a pleasurable experience, organising all the permits needed, extra flights at the last minute and ensuring a smooth trip. We highly recommend using Discovery World Trekking for any treks/trips around Nepal. Thanks a bunch! :))

Wild Life Changing Adventure!!

Wild Life Changing Adventure!!

Wow! This hike changed my life! Paul, Dil, and our two porters Laxman and Munice were on point every moment and always there to offer a hand with a smiling face yet gave us space to enjoy our personal journey ~ I could not have asked for a better team to adventure with. Discovery World Trekking I recommend 100%! Paul did the unduible all the way down to recovering a tube of paintings I left at the airport in Pokhara ~ through his connections he was able to make a call, find the package and have it flown to us within 2hours! Not to mention the deal he got for us when it came to the helicopter ride. It's best to go with a local travel agency who has connections in the area in which you are adventuring :) Thank You Discovery World Trekking!

Trekking is an adventurous way of traveling through the hills and mountains and in Nepal, trekking often includes world-famous views of the Himalaya and scenic surroundings. Trekking is a favorite activity for tourists to Nepal and is a great way to get to know the land and its residents. It involves getting up close and personal with nature while hiking for multiple days through hills and valleys to areas that are often far away from vehicle travel.

As an adventure activity, trekking is mostly done for entertainment, excitement, cultural interaction and education – getting to know a country and its people, culture, landscape and scenery among other highlights. For mountain climbing expeditions, trekking is often the first part of the journey where the mountaineers get used to the increasing altitude as well as the climate and landscape. Nepal’s renowned trekking regions include the Everest region, Annapurna and Langtang with many more areas that have been developed and that are up and coming including the whole rest of the hills up to the Himalaya!

Routes take trekkers travel through picturesque farmland and villages, remote hills, forests and valleys with Himalayan fed streams and rivers. Visitors can take in some of the most beautiful scenery on earth while trekking in Nepal. Facilities along trekking trails are usually more basic than facilities in urban areas and overnight accommodation is in lodges, teahouses and tents and sometimes a combination depending on location and availability of facilities. Now a days, accommodation and meals can be arranged along most trails at lodges and teahouses, especially on the popular routes. In the not so distant past, travelers and porters traveled together with sufficient tents, food and equipment because of a lack of facilities and accommodation, especially in the more remote, uninhabited areas. Our teahouse treks are organized with accommodation and meals along entire routes.

The government regulates most of the areas where trekking is done and permits are required for entering Nepal’s extensive range of national parks and conservation areas. Discovery World Trekking takes care of everything, including arranging permits, allowing you to savor every moment on the enchanting trails!

Discovery World Trekking offers the whole range of trekking packages for Nepal. We look forward to sharing with you the magnificence of the Himalaya and its world famous attractions along with the legendary kindness of the people that populate the hills and mountainous regions.

Rural life in Nepal follows a natural pace depending on season and weather. While trekking, you can travel at your own pace along the scenic trails that link each day’s way points. Many of the trekking routes are in fact ancient trade routes that link Tibet, Nepal and India! The trails often pass through groves of rhododendron, Nepal’s national flower and grazing areas for cows, sheep, water buffalo and even yaks! The mountain panoramas will be unforgettable as well the scenic villages along the way graced with Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries. These settlements will allow trekkers an insight into the traditional ways of life cultural heritage of Nepal along with the wide range of biodiversity of the landscape.

An average day of trekking involves around five to six hours hiking including breaks for meals and as needed. The average distance covered can be a bit relative given the terrain and altitude but figure on about 10 to 15 kilometers. Along the way you will have many chances for photography and perhaps other personal interests such as bird watching and discovering the local flora.
Discovery World Trekking has many options from newly promoted trails to the classic routes and we look forward to hearing from you and satisfying your desired trekking styles and destinations.
