Bhote Koshi River Rafting is adventurous for whitewater adventure which is a very challenging river for rafting and kayaking. The main branch of Sun Koshi River which flows from Tibet is easily accessed from Kathmandu & Pokhara. Bhote Koshi River Rafting is full of exciting gorges between the mountain valleys, springs, Hills, etc. These gorges are dramatically adventurous and rapids are challenging with big bounces current of the river. Discovery World Trekking has been selecting Bhote Koshi River as challenging and enjoyable adventure sports in Nepal.
Overview
The Bhote Kosi is the steepest river rafted in Nepal. With a gradient of 15m per kilometre, it is a full eight times as steep as the Sun Kosi, which it feeds further downstream. The river carves a steep and direct drop at the top that gradually eases to more placid streams and the calmer pools with a 46-km run at the Lamosunga dam. The rapids here are class I4-5 at high flow, and 3 at lower levels. The Bhote Kosi is used for both rafting and kayaking. The river is steep and continuous with one rapid leading into another. It takes you about 3 hours driving from Kathmandu by private vehicle to the start point at Bhote Koshi River. It’s an exciting and tough river but makes for the best 2 days rafting.
Bhotekoshi River is not so away from Kathmandu therefore easily accessed driving through highway by Private Car/Jeep. It is at the distance of 3 hours drive through Araniko Highway to Lamosangu. The highway is with numerous bents and natural scenarios which will definitely amaze you every time you look out of the window. Bhote Koshi is itself very challenging river as the roadway view provides while travelling to access point of rafting. The upper Bhote Koshi ends at Barabise and the Lower Bhote Koshi starts at Lamosangu Dam. Rafting put-in – the point is at Lamosangu. Rafting adventure in this river is challenging because of the big water flow current in the river. Expert rafters can handle some rapids which are breathe stopping and hair straightening while rafting.
