Tipping

Tipping does not form any part of wages for your Guides, porters and crew although they are very much appreciated. In Nepalese culture, tip is the accepted and a lovely way of saying thank you (“Dhanyabad”) for good service. Normally the tips are offered at the end of the trek and this is best done as a group. The amount of the trip is entirely personal preference that may be more or less depending upon your perception of service quality, length of trip, budget and appreciation of their work. Paul, the CEO of Discovery World Trekking is very friendly and helpful. This is my first trekking trip on Nepal and I’m glad that I have engage them as our guide and porter service. Their guide Mr. Munsing is really great. Along the way, he ensure we all are well taken care of especially our safety. Aside from his great service, he is also a very friendly person and willing to share any info or knowledge that we ask. Beside the guide, their porters are really great as well. They have provide their best service beyond their obligation. This is my first trekking but not the last, I’m planning for another trek and I will definitely come back for Discovery World Trekking again. They are definitely highly recommended by my team and myself.

My 16 yr old son and my 60 Yr old self settled on this company and trek after considering options at home and through talking to the proprietor Paul about our experience and expectations. The trek was a great fit for us, challenging but not gruelling with some great scenery through Rhododendron and pine forests, high mountain passes, frozen lakes and snow and village life. Sundeep looked after our welfare encouraged us and was a great source of knowledge on just about everything. He’s no mean card player either and we became good friends. Watching my son grow through these 12 days was a delight as he tackled the mountain paths under the watchful eye of Sundeep and Khasiman, our tireless porter and ever cheerful companion. It is an experience we will remember always. Thanks Khasiman, Sundeep and Paul for making it possible.

Im a female from Australia and just went trekking in Langtang Valley with my sister and the team. Discovery World Trekking is a brilliant company to trek with. From the beginning communication was a breeze, any questions i had were answered clearly and promptly by Paul. Upon arrival we met with his faboulous team. For me it was important to trek with an ethical company. What stands out is the porter baggage limit set by paul, which is well below what we commonly saw on the trek. Also staff were appropriately dressed for the conditions and very smartly. His guide Simbir and porter Bam were really lovely. They made our experience truely memorable, the care and effort they showed to their work and to us was so heartwarming. Simbir gave us trekking advice, he educated us about the region and was really open to teaching and answering any questions we had about everything Nepalese and Langtang related. Bam showed equal dedication, it was always a pleasure to see his smiley face and his efforts in teaching us the local language is immensely appriciated. In future when i return to Nepal, which is most definitely a yes. I will call on Discovery World Trekking.

My sister and I recently ventured along the 8 day Langtang Valley trek. Paul and his team Simbir and BAM were super kind and very friendly. We immediately felt at ease from the moment we were picked up from the airport to the end of our trip. I am a fairly active person in general, although I did no thorough altitude training for the trip I made it to the peak with the help, patience and perseverance of Simbir, our guide. I felt like I had a truly unique experience up there. All my queries about the different cultural regions, animals and habitats were answered in loads of detail, which made the experience very memorable. I truly felt like I came to Nepal as a guest and left as a friend (Tibet saying) Namaste and thank you Discovery World Trekking! Can’t wait until I come back with my family to do ABC Basecamp (Everest) and the Jungle Safari.

I think we lucked out here. Discovery World Trekking gave our family the ‘A Team’ to guide us through the Khopra Danda trek and made our 7 days of Annapurna National Park a trip to beat them all. Aussie Paul (from Nepal) put together our team of Milan (no.1 guide) with Purna and Ram ( top porters with card skills to watch out for) to put a smile on my face every minute of the day. To say I enjoyed this trip and the teams company is an understatement. Well done Paul, boys and Discovery World Trekking. ‘Jum Jum’
