Best Season

Although trekking is possible throughout the year each season has different advantages and attractions and advantages offer for trekking in Annapurna circuit . The temperature in the mountains also depends according to the altitude range – higher the altitude, lower the temperature.

March-May

Trekking season begins after March. Trekking in the spring between mid-March and mid-April means that you will get to see the incredible displays of Rhododendrons that flower in the forests around Ghorepani. Temperature starts rising from mid March up to mid May. Weather is cool at this time. Sky is very clear and you can enjoy the clearest views of mountains.

June-August

It usually rains during this season. Monsoon generally begins around the end June and continues up to the second week of August. The temperature during the days usually ranges from 10°C to 23? and gets relatively colder at night ( 5°C to 10?) mornings are usually clear with clouds building up during the afternoon and disappearing again at night. Because of the rainfall Rhododendron forests around Ghorepani will be rife with leeches .However, the northern sections around the Mustang Region doesn't get as affected by the monsoon as it lies within a rainshadow area Though the rain may cause some problems .Various plants bloom during this season , the valleys will be green and totally different view than during other seasons. Please note that rain clouds may boack views and mudslides are common around the entire circuit.

September-October

This is a favourite among tourists with the most favorable weather and perfect climate condition. The sun shines bright the skies are clear you get a superb view of mountains and the temperature is perfect for daytime trek. you can enjoy spectacular starry skies since the sky is clear at night. The monsoons will be over by early September and the weather ranges from mild to warm days. Daytime temperatures can reach upto 20c in high altitudes, the nights are cold, temperatures may go down around 5c.the greens that grew during monsoon fade to golden/amber proving a spectacular contrast against the crystal blue skies, grains are ripen in the enclave. The environment is clean and lowlands are lush. The biggest festivals of Nepal like Dashain, Tihar also fall during this season.this is the busiest period on the Annapurna Circuit and lodges book up quickly, we recommend booking with Discovery world Trekking as soon as possible for this season.

November

November is a busy season, the clearest month, with crisp and sparkling sky.The daytime temperatures at this month is usually the most stable, from mild to cool conditions, the humidity is aso pretty dry with very cold nights.

December-February

The coldest time is from December through early February, after late February, climate gradually gets warmer Temperatures get extremely cold dropping to -5 degree C at high altitudes. daytime is pleasantly and relatively warm with sunshine. At over 5,000 metres, Thorung La Pass is often deluged with snow and will close for days on end when this happens. Despite being cold the skies are usually very clear, mountain views are at their best.with snowy caps the it might snow and the ground will be snow the trails are the least busy at this time.it may not be the best season for beginners but experienced trekkers will have no problem.do keep in mine that late february- early march is also the period in the Annapurna Region when avalanches are most common.

Weather in the Himalaya can be unpredictable and change quickly; temperature can vary vastly from day to night.

Money exchange

Nepali Rupees (NPR/Rs) is the local currency.
(1 USD = ~ Rs.100 NPR).
We can exchange most of the foreign currencies through local banks and legitimate money exchanges in Kathmandu and all over Thamel. Small amounts of cash can also be exchanged at the hotel.
The ongoing rate of exchange is visibly displayed. The government of Nepal has banned the import, export and use of 500 and 1000 Indian Rupee note in Nepal. You should ensure that you are not carrying these notes on arrival in Nepal as they will be confiscated and you may also be fined.
Despite having security advantage of traveller’scheque, we prefer cash exchange to avoid hassles like a lengthy process and high rate of commission at the banks. You can withdraw cash (in Rupees only) from one of the many ATMs in Kathmandu and Thamel itself. There are quite several ATMs that are open around the clock. The maximum withdrawal amount is 35,000 Rupees for a 500 Rupees processing fee if you are using your foreign card. If you use the money exchange facility at banks and financial institutions the service fee charge imposed is about four percent or more depending upon the bank.

Most of the established banks in Asia will not accept foreign currency notes that are old, torn or faded. Please ensure that you have new, clean notes

Most groups will give the trips in farewell dinner on the last evening or last day of the trek, to mark the end of the trip. The amount of the trip is entirely a personal preference that may be more or less depending upon your perception of service quality, length of trip, budget and appreciation of their work. Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake

My partner and I recently completed a 16 day Annapurna Circuit Trek with Discovery World Trekking. I honestly could not recommended it more highly. Our guide (Subaraj) and Porter (Ganesh) were incredible and made the experience so memorable for us. They both spoke excellent English which meant communication was easy and they both had a great sense of humour which made the trip very fun. We learnt so much about the region from Subaraj's wealth of knowledge and felt we were in very capable hands with his vast experience. He took care of everything for us (from food to hotels to permit checks) which meant we felt very safe and could just sit back and enjoy the experience. Ganesh also made sure we had everything we needed and always provided a good laugh when playing local card games! He took great pride in his work and was really easy to get along with. The scenery was incredible and completely exceeded my expectations. The itinerary is very well thought out giving you plenty of balance throughout. Paul checked in with us daily to make sure were ok which made us feel at ease. He did everything in his power to make sure we were happy during the trek.

Since my very first contact with Paul via email, Discovery World Trekking has been nothing but professional and accomodating. From prompt responses to emails, to airport pickup and drop off, the company did everything possible to make this a stress free experience. I did the 16 day Annapurna Circuit with Telicho Lake trek, with my guide Simbir and porter Ganesh. Both Simbir and Ganesh were polite, professional and couldn't do enough to make my experience a positive one. As a first time trekker travelling alone, this was very important and appeeciated. Simbir is very experienced and knowledgeable, and was constantly checking with me that I was feeling ok and if there was anything I needed. He has a great relationship with the tea house owners and always choose excellent places to stay, and made sure I got the best room. Carrying fruit and serving it to me every evening is one of the small things that make a huge difference; I was the cause of envy many evenings in the tea houses amongst guests who were missing fresh fruit! I have no hesitancy in recommending this company for trekking in Nepal, and will definitely book with them when I come back! Thank you Paul, Simbir and Ganesh

Just finished up the Annapurna Circuit and I have nothing but praise for Paul and his incredible team who lead the way! This is my second visit and trek in Nepal, and I have been made to feel welcomed and most importantly safe as a solo female traveller. Paul was always prompt in answering my questions and his amazing team were there to pick me up from the airport when I arrived! Karan was our fearless team leader, with Noveen and Bomb his incredible wing-men! Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to make it over the Thorong-La Pass! These 3 kept our small group entertained, safe and well informed throughout the whole trek. We had planned to go to Tilicho Lake, however due to incredibly dangerous weather, our leaders made the difficult decision to turn us around and out of harms way after. Whilst not ideal, after hearing other trekkers stories of their visit to the lake, I’m glad we had such knowledgeable guides who had our safety as their number one priority. One of our three leaders was always by my side as I was the slowest of the group, and I was never once made to feel like I needed to rush. The guys always encouraged us to do our best and were always positive that we would get to the finish line. I cannot praise Paul and his team enough! It has been yet another incredible visit to Nepal, and it’s been so great knowing I didn’t have to worry about anything, and that I could call on our team no matter what time of the day. Make sure you indulge in the Dal Bhat (24hr power) when you travel with DWT! You’ll need the energy to keep up with the guys who never failed to keep us entertained with songs and jokes! Bomb is the most hilarious pocket rocket, who is always up for the craziest of challenges. Noveen will sing away all of your worries (and will totally win Nepal Idol one day!!!) and Karan will always be by your side, sharing his amazing knowledge about the mountains and making the difficult decisions so you don’t have to, always with a smile on his face. Thanks for a fabulous 2 weeks! I’m already looking forward to my next Nepali adventure!

My friend and I, after some research, chose Discovery World Trekking to lead our trek. They were very prompt in returning our emails and flexible in the dates that we chose. We met Paul and our guide when we arrived in Kathmandu and went over the trek and any questions that we had. We felt that they handled everything very professionally and our guide and porter were wonderful. Very professional and knowledgeable, and were great at accomodating our needs. The tea houses that they chose for us were far better than I had expected and the food on the entire trek was wonderful. There was no pressure to hike faster than we were comfortable with and we were given the opportunity to choose routes and if we wanted to hike a little farther on certain days. I would recommend this company to my friends and would definitely use them again if i return to Nepal.

I signed up for the 16 day Annapurna Circuit Trek with lake Tilicho. It was an unforgettable experience where I saw the full range of rainforest to snow at Thorong La pass. Shawn Deep and Maansing were great and kept me safe in the mountains and were a bundle of fun. We had an enjoyable time on the trail and they were professional in carrying out their duties. Had heavy snow fall at Sree Kharka which made visiting the lake dangerous, so my guide made the correct decision to alter the route. I also made same last minute decision to alter the itinerary due to some personal reasons and they were very accommodating to make the necessary changes. My first trip to Nepal but definitely not the last. Discovery World Trekking made it an wonderful experience.

We had a great experience on the Annapurna Circuit Trek incl Tilicho Lake and we loved the fantastic sceneries. Paul, the manager of the agency is very committed in ensuring that we will be very satisfied on our trip. He also takes care a lot about his porters and guides which is important to us (e.g. that they are carrying not too much). Our guide and porters were very capable and had a pleasing manner. We arranged the trip via internet and asked if some flexibility is possible to make the trip more custom. Paul explained to us what is possible and what not (e.g. because of potential risks or depending on weather conditions). I personally appreciated this honesty a lot since it built trust. During the trip we asked for some rearrangements by adding two extra days he made this possible by rearranging flights from Jomsom to Pokhara which I guess required some effort since this flight seems often heavily booked. Thanks again for this very nice trip!

I just returned from an Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake trek organized by Discovery World Trekking. From my first communication with the owner, Paul, to my trek with Dol, the team at Discovery World went above and beyond to create a truly exceptional experience. Paul answered all of my logistical questions and helped me make local arrangements, all with a positive supportive attitude that made me much more confident in my decision to come to Nepal alone. On the trail, Dol patiently and cheerfully answered all of my questions and shared his culture with me. He was also very responsive and flexible, suggesting changes to the itinerary that I might enjoy and accommodating my requests as they came up. He even carried my sleeping bag for me on a couple of the toughest days! The trek itself was gorgeous, and we had great weather given that I was there during monsoon season (few clouds and almost no rain!). Tilicho lake and the Thorong La pass were definite highlights! This team is truly committed to making sure each client has the best experience possible, and they have a ton of experience and know what works. I've done a lot of trekking in many different countries, and the organization and personal attention I saw on this trek were second to none. Discovery World is an awesome local company, and the obvious choice if you're coming to Nepal to go trekking. I'm already looking forward to reconnecting with them in a couple of years to trek to Everest Base Camp!

From the moment Paul met us with a flower necklace at the airport until he waved us off in the private bound for departure; the whole Discovery World Trekking experience paid for itself tenfold. It has compounded my love for the country and the people of Nepal and made certain that I will return and do another trek with DWT. I can not fault our guide Soraz and porter Amar as they were a delight to be around, they were professional, genuine and had a youthly passion for delivering the best trekking experience. Soraz is knowledgeable and has adequate English skills to translate and would always travel at our pace, never pushed us to go faster or further. Amar is bubbly, loves music and would sing for us every day whilst trekking. They both seem the happiest with a cup of warm tea playing cards with us which was a delight. As a whole this experience in Nepal was amazing and unforgettable, thank you so much Discovery World Trekking. See you again soon.

I had a great experience in Nepal trekking with Discovery World Trekking. Paul the CEO was always quick and easy to contact, gave us all the information we needed and made sure we were ready to go before we set off. He was also available to chat along the way and to catch up after to make sure we had a good experience. We had a great guide, Sundeep, who was always fun, professional, kind and knowledgeable and always made sure we were safe and having fun along the way. Overall a great first trekking experience with this company in Nepal which I’ll be sure to come back to do another trek with in the future! Highly recommended
